Eppley Fine Arts Building: Morningside College
Sioux City, IA

In the mid 1960’s, Chris Hansen Construction, Inc. built the Eppley Fine Arts Building on the Morningside College Campus in Sioux City, Iowa.

Designed by the Sioux City Architectural Firm of W. L. Beutler and Son, the Eppley Fine Arts Building featured long life construction design, i.e. steel frame, masonry (brick, block, glazed tile, and stone), cement and acoustical plaster and ceramic mosaic tile.  With R.M. McCline’s constant guidance, this project was completed ahead of schedule - no small feat on a project that had an aggressive original schedule and liquidation damages.

In the building’s thirty plus years of life, countless thousands of people have come to Eppley Fine Arts Building to enjoy concerts, plays, and other various events.  The Sioux City Symphony orchestra continues to use Eppley for its concerts.

The ceramic mosaic at the main entrance continues to be appreciated by all who enter the facility.  Eppley Fine Arts Building may have been Bob’s favorite project.
